Another Massage Session

Had another masseur recommended by Ai Ling. She's quite good but a little bit pricey though. After the everything was over, I slept like a baby. Really relaxing. Didn't do the wrapping yet -the wrapping is believed to help with the shrinking of the belly. Will be doing it in the next session.

1st Massage

I had a malay massage lady a two weeks after birth. It is believed that the massage will help in expelling the wind and blood clot in the womb caused by the pregnancy and birth. Her oil is really smelly. Not as good. Decided to look for someone else.

Confinement - Another term for JAIL

I am going crazy from all this locking up. "You can't eat this and that" "You can't go out" You must wear socks and slippers" "You must wrap yourself up like a mummy" "You can't wash your hands in normal water" "You can't walk so much" "You can't do this and that to the baby". Who's baby is it anyway. I am really fed up with all these comments. Really driving me up the wall. Just leave me alone. FED UP ... all these makes my baby blues even worse.

Umbilical Cord

Finally, after 7 whole days her umbilical cord dropped off. Was adviced by Ai Ling to clean the area until all have dried off.

Deciding On Her Chinese Name

Daddy (accompanied by Sonny) went to a place in Jalan Petaling to ask for chinese names for our little princess. After much consideration, we decided to name her Xin Ni. So its going to be Denisha Lim Xin Ni.

Midwife Visit

Ai Ling, a midwife from Genlia came to visit. She did a few checks on me and also our little princess. Breastfeeding was quite a painful experience. Everything else seemed to be fine.

Baby Panic

In the morning, princess was making some noise in the crib. So we decided to carry her. While patting her gently on the back, she was having some difficulties breathing and her face turned red. We panicked and brought her to the PD, Pixie Clinic in USJ. With much explanation, Dr Low said its normal for newborn to act that way. Coincidently, we bump into my sis, Pristina. So, I decided to drop by her place while daddy brought the car to the mechanics to fix the air-con.

New Born Baby Denisha

In the afternoon of 30th August 2003, I did a checkup. Dr Ang said everything is fine and there are no signs of delivery. So, daddy and I decided to do some shopping at Summit Shopping Mall in USJ. Later in the evening, I felt some contractions but ignored it .. thinking that its just Braxton Hicks. Cousin Barry called us over for durians (yummy). We decided to have dinner there. So, all the way to Cheras we drove. I was still feeling the contractions but bearable. After the dinner, I decided to admit into SJMC. So we went home to bathe and get my hospital bag. We feel excited as well as worried. What if its false alarm!

We reached SJMC at about 12am the next day (31st August 2003). The nurse did some test and put an equipment around my belly to test for the contractions and the baby's heartbeat. After checking, the nurse said I was dilated 2cm. Oh My Gosh! I'm going into labour. I was so nervous but tried to remain calm. Received a call from my sis, Pristina couching me on the breathing exercises. :) Was joking with my mom a few days back when she said she wanted to "nasi lemak" ( a malaysian delicacy cook - rice cook with coconut). Told her jokingly that I won't be able to eat 'cos I'll be delivering during "Merdeka Day" (Malaysia National Day). Haha ... really funny. It's good delivering on that day .. at least our little girl can celebrate her birthday on a holiday.

Luckily the doctor is in the hospital delivering another baby. To speed this up a bit, the nurse did a drip on me. The pain was not so intense in the beginning. As delivery is approaching nearer, the pain got worse. The real pain lasts for about 30 minutes. And finally Little Denisha is born. It's too bad, Mark did not take the full delivery on video. Its such a waste.

Details of Baby Denisha:
~ Weight: 2.67kg
~ Length: 47cm
~ Head Circumference: 33cm
~ Apgar Score: 9

Asleep peacefully in the hospital cot

Fully awake ...

We were discharged in the afternoon on the 2nd September 2003. While travelling in the car, the air-con decided to 'konk' out on us. Gosh it was the worse journey ever. Poor princess was sweating .. goodness! Its 12pm where the sun was blazing hot. Had a nanny for the one month confinement.
